Install Office 2024 Standard

This guide shows you how to install Office 2024 Standard on your Windows PC and activate it with the product key from your order email. Office 2024 Standard is a perpetual licence: once activated, the software runs without a subscription and without follow-up costs.

System requirements

Before installing, check that your computer meets the minimum requirements:

• Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (Windows 7 and 8.1 are not supported)
• Memory: at least 4 GB RAM
• Disk space: around 5 GB of free hard drive space
• Internet: connection for download and online activation

The package includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote. Access is only included in the Professional Plus edition.

Preparation: remove existing Office

Many new PCs come with a Microsoft 365 trial pre-installed. Remove it first, otherwise the activation of your licence may fail:

1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
2. Look for entries such as "Microsoft 365" or "Microsoft Office".
3. Click Uninstall and follow the instructions.
4. Then restart the PC.

Download and installation

Download the offline installer for Office 2024 Standard directly from our download page. A Microsoft account is not required for this.

1. Open our download page and select Office 2024 Standard.
2. Download the installer and save the file, for example in the Downloads folder.
3. Double-click the file to start it and confirm the User Account Control prompt with Yes.
4. The installation runs through automatically. Depending on your system, this takes 10 to 20 minutes.
5. Wait for the message "You're all set! Office is installed now." and close the window.

Tip: Do not disconnect from the internet during the installation and leave the PC switched on until the completion message appears.

Activation with the product key

You will find your 25-character product key in the order email from Keywi24. Here is how to unlock Office with it:

1. Open an Office program, for example Word.
2. The activation wizard appears on first launch. If it does not, click File > Account > Change product key.
3. Enter the 25-character key. The safest way is to copy and paste it from the email.
4. Click Activate. Office checks the key online and unlocks the licence.
5. Check: under File > Account it now says "Product Activated".

Note on telephone activation: With volume licence keys, Office sometimes offers telephone activation instead of online activation. This is normal and free of charge: you do not speak to a member of staff, you enter the installation ID shown on screen into an automated system and receive a confirmation ID in return.

Common problems

• Key is not accepted: Watch out for mix-ups such as 'O' and '0' or 'B' and '8'. It is best to copy the key directly from the email.
• "Unlicensed Product" message: Usually a pre-installed Microsoft 365 trial is still active. Uninstall it, restart the PC and activate again.
• Activation error with an error code: Check your internet connection, temporarily disable your VPN or firewall and try again. Alternatively, use telephone activation.
• Wrong edition installed: The key only activates Office 2024 Standard. A different installed edition (for example Professional Plus) cannot be unlocked with it. In that case, use the matching installer from our download page.
