Install Office 2019 Professional Plus

This guide walks you step by step through installing and activating Office 2019 Professional Plus on Windows. You received your 25-character product key by email after your purchase, so have that email ready.

System requirements

Office 2019 Professional Plus runs only on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Before installing, take a moment to check the following:

• Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (Windows 7 and 8.1 are not supported)
• Processor: 1.6 GHz or faster, at least 2 cores
• Memory: 4 GB RAM (64-bit) or 2 GB RAM (32-bit)
• Hard disk: at least 4 GB of free disk space
• Display: resolution of 1280 × 768 or higher

Tip: You can find your Windows version under Settings > System > About. It also shows whether a 64-bit or 32-bit system is installed.

Preparation: remove any existing Office

Many new PCs come with a Microsoft 365 trial preinstalled. Two Office versions cannot be installed side by side, so remove all existing Office installations first:

1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Windows 10: Apps & features).
2. Look for entries such as Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office.
3. Click Uninstall and follow the instructions.
4. Then restart the PC.

Note: If leftover Office files cannot be removed cleanly, Microsoft's free "Support and Recovery Assistant" (available from microsoft.com) can help. It deletes old installations completely.

Download the official offline installer for Office 2019 Professional Plus directly from our download page:

1. Open our download page.
2. Select Office 2019 Professional Plus there.
3. Download the installation package (several gigabytes, so this may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection) and make a note of where it is saved.

Install Office 2019 Professional Plus

1. Double-click the downloaded setup file to open it.
2. Confirm the User Account Control prompt with Yes.
3. The installation then runs automatically and usually takes 10 to 20 minutes.
4. Wait until the message appears that Office has been installed, then close the window.

Important: Do not switch off the PC or disconnect from the internet during the installation.

Activate with your product key

1. Open any Office app, for example Word.
2. The activation window appears on first launch. If it does not, click File > Account and then Change product key.
3. Enter the 25-character product key from your Keywi24 email.
4. Click Next. Office checks the key online and unlocks itself.
5. To check: under File > Account you should now see "Product Activated".

Telephone activation: With Professional Plus keys (volume licences), Office sometimes suggests activation by telephone. This is normal and not an error: you do not speak to anyone, you simply enter the displayed installation ID into an automated telephone system and receive a confirmation ID in return. Common problems

• Setup fails with an error message: Usually remnants of an old Office or Microsoft 365 installation are still present. Uninstall them (see the "Preparation" section), restart the PC and run the setup again.
• Key not accepted: Check for typing errors. Common mix-ups are 'B' and '8' or 'Q' and '0'. It is best to copy the key directly from the email.
• Wrong edition installed: The key activates Office 2019 Professional Plus only. It cannot unlock any other Office version (e.g. Home & Business).
• "Unlicensed Product" message: Repeat the activation via File > Account > Change product key and make sure you have an internet connection.
