What's included in the Microsoft 365 subscription
Microsoft 365 comprises the well-known Office apps and, in addition, cloud services: online storage per user, ongoing new features and, depending on the plan, the option to cover multiple devices and multiple people. You pay monthly or yearly, and use ends when the subscription ends.
Who is it worth it for? Above all for households that equip several people with Office and actively use the cloud storage, as well as for users who always want the latest features. Those who use Office in the classic way in everyday life, without any need for the cloud, by contrast end up paying more in the long run with the subscription.
The perpetual licence as a subscription-free alternative
- A one-time purchase instead of ongoing costs. Office 2024 as a perpetual licence is paid for once and used permanently.
- Pays off after about two years. Anyone using Office for longer than two years is usually better off with the perpetual licence.
- No cloud storage, no mandatory Microsoft account. The perpetual licence does without the cloud features, but in return also without the subscription commitment.
- Same core apps. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are fully included in both models.
