Sample calculation: 10 employees, 3 years of use
Over 3 years of use: perpetual licences are usually 3–5× cheaper. At 5+ years the difference grows even larger. Microsoft 365 Business pays off above all when you actively need Teams, OneDrive (1 TB per user) and an Exchange mailbox.
| Option | Per person | 10 people / 3 years |
|---|---|---|
| 10× Office 2024 Standard (perpetual licence, with volume discount) | approx. CHF 80 | approx. CHF 800 |
| 10× Office 2024 Pro Plus (perpetual licence, with volume discount) | approx. CHF 180 | approx. CHF 1'800 |
| Microsoft 365 Business Standard | approx. CHF 142/year | approx. CHF 4'260 |
| Microsoft 365 Apps for Business | approx. CHF 95/year | approx. CHF 2'850 |
When each model really fits
- Multiple perpetual licences if you mainly use Office Standard, do not need OneDrive cloud sharing, your employees have fixed PCs, and you plan on 3+ years of use.
- Microsoft 365 Business if you want to actively use Teams, OneDrive and Exchange mail. For mobile-worker setups (notebook + mobile + cloud sharing) it is often the better choice despite higher costs.
- Hybrid solution if you have mixed requirements, e.g. 5 Office Standard users (fixed workstations) + 3 Microsoft 365 users (mobile). We will help you plan the configuration.
