Which Office package should I buy for personal use?

Three questions: three answers

• Subscription or purchase? Do you always want the latest version plus 1 TB of cloud storage, perhaps for several people in the household? Then go for Microsoft 365 (subscription). Otherwise, a perpetual licence – pay once, use it for good.
• Is the classic package enough? Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook are already included in Office 2024 Standard, our most affordable entry point. For most people, that is the answer.
• Do you need Access? Only those who use the Access database should opt for Office 2024 Professional Plus. Everyone else can save themselves the trouble.

What most private users end up with

For most private users, Office 2024 Standard is the right choice: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook as a perpetual licence – and explicitly usable commercially as well, for instance for freelance work on the side. We deliberately do not stock the pure Home edition without Outlook.

Microsoft 365 is worth it if you want the latest features on an ongoing basis, 1 TB of cloud storage or family sharing for several people. Office Home & Business is the direct alternative to Standard, while Professional Plus is only for those with a genuine need for Access.
