The typical experience patterns
Experiences with used software licenses mostly fall into two groups. The good experience: receive the license by email, install the software, enter the key, done. Activation went through immediately, and the software works just like a new copy, because technically it is the same software.
The bad experience almost never comes from the product itself, but from the provider. It arises with dumping shops that offer no support: a key that gets blocked after a short time, and no contact person to help. So the decisive variable is not used or new, but reputable or disreputable.
What makes a good experience likely
- A provider with reachable support. If something does go wrong, reachability is what decides between frustration and a quick solution.
- Activation guarantee. It protects against the worst case, a license that cannot be activated.
- VAT invoice. It serves as proof of purchase and a sign that the provider is commercially accountable.
- Read independent reviews. On Trusted Shops or similar, you can see whether other buyers have had good experiences.
